Angel was born in Baltimore and raised as a devout Roman Catholic with deep love for interfaith work. They attended Antioch College (B.A. in History, concentration on race and ethnicity studies in Latin America), and then, having become an Episcopalian in 2019, joined the Episcopal Service Corps, serving in Philadelphia.
